"Have always enjoyed Swagger. Bob Lee and I are same generation, but do not share the same skill set. You probably have heard or read the following comments, but I needed to get them off my chest. My take is that your researchers, copyreaders, or editors may need a tweak.
p.34- Times are reversed, but also Grand Rapids, MI is in Eastern zone, just as D.C. p.126- 424 minus 209 is 215, not 115. Throws off all following references to subjects still to be vetted. p.262- "So, Nick," said Bob. Should be Bill speaking. p.279- 'banjax' - a transitive verb used as a noun; also why usage as character name? David Banjax and Anto had no common reference. p.336- 5 PM in Montana is only 7 PM in D.C. (Mt. time zone). p.397- Time zone statement self-correcting w/o explanation. Not quibbling, but number errors jump out and disrupt narrative flow."

Boring Disappointment

"I had a hard time solidifying my opinion on this until about half way through the book because I am a fan, but I am being honest in my opinion here. I am a big Steven Hunter fan and liked the Bob Lee Swagger saga, however I,Sniper is a way overwritten blathering mess. I think that the publisher made a mistake by not editing the heck out of this novel. Hunter just rambles on meaninglessly and redundantly in most of the chapters as if it were written by a high school kid trying to fill a writing assignment's content requirement. It could have easily been half as thick with more interest to the reader. This book is a classic display of an author resting on his laurels in the wake of a book (Point of Impact)turned into a motion picture (Shooter). There were some interesting parts and the author clearly has a familiar grasp on some of the technical aspects described but really over exaggerated in a ignorant Hollywood-esque fashion which made that part of the book only partially enjoyable at best, however they were far overshadowed by boorish literary filler. Also, he dedicates this book to many of the famous magazine "gun writers" that make a living publishing much of the same technical inaccurate literary garbage.
The age of the main character was also too out of the realistic realm for the endurance of the character that was portrayed, resulting in disappointment...kind of like watching "Rocky 12 - The Convalescent Stallion". I understand that Hunter is under contract to write another book for the publisher on this character, but I doubt I will pay money to read it. I'm afraid that this character has "jumped the shark". Very disappointing. Time to find a new story line. Sorry. Oh, I almost forgot...can I have my money back??"
